This 1966 VW Micro Bus, also known as the 11 Window Van, is an iconic vehicle that has captured the hearts of classic car enthusiasts worldwide. This particular example is a fantastic showcase of high-quality custom work, evident in nearly every detail of the exterior and interior.

Finished in a classic two-tone paint scheme, the body of this T1 presents beautifully, with no dents or scratches.

As mentioned earlier, it was completely built from the ground up according to the specifications of the original owner, who wanted an excellent resto-mod unit to drive kids to the beach and enjoy a solid, yet sporty bus, when needed.

This vision was brought to life by the talented team at Kustom Classics – a restoration shop based in Texas, which provided a full cycle of high-quality work.

They created a brand-new custom subframe and equipped it with the best available options at the time of construction. Let’s take a quick look at the undercarriage, which is in solid condition – just as if it were freshly produced.

In terms of the drivetrain, this bus features the best possible option: a reliable 6.2l LS engine paired with a GM Hydramatic A/T transmission. This combination transmits power to the custom rear axle, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable driving experience.

The suspension has been assembled with top-of-the-line pro-options for the T1 body, including a complete set of double-wishbone conversion kits in the front, fully adjustable triangular arms, with options for height, toe, and camber adjustments. It also features rack-and-pinion steering (ChassisWorks), a set of full-tap coilovers, and a four-link rear suspension with a watt parallelogram for smooth and controlled suspension travel. Big multipiston calipers, equipped with wide rotors and steel dash braided hoses, provide excellent braking performance in any situation. Thanks to the ample power and torque generated by the LS engine, the bus can comfortably maintain modern highway speeds while feeling like a true sleeper. The added performance has revitalized the bus, making it a joy to cruise or navigate dynamic drives wherever you desire.

Regarding the chassis and body, everything has either been restored or replaced. All the glass is brand new and matches the original specifications. From top to bottom, the bus has been fully painted in Green gloss with a white top and white bumpers. The combination of classy looks and performance includes 17-inch custom steel wheels on shiny hubcaps, wrapped in BF Goodrich 235/40 road-legal sporty tires to keep the bus stable on the road.

Moving to the interior – it reflects the same attention to detail and full restoration/modification. The entire interior maintains a color scheme similar to the body, with all seats recovered in green and white leather. The door paneling and trims are made from soft green special fabric, and the headliner is also soft. The grey seatbelt buckles feature the Wolfsburg emblem, honoring the bus’s original German roots.

Another significant upgrade essential for warm climates is the efficient A/C system, successfully designed and installed into the cabin space during the rebuild process, making any journey enjoyable even on hot days.

The sound system features a 2DIN Kenwood head unit mounted on the front part of the headliner, along with four speakers positioned around the driver and passenger seats.

The driver’s controls have been upgraded with a stylish A/T shifter knob with reverse lockout, functional knobs and switches in excellent condition, and an original OEM steering wheel that is immaculate. To monitor the LS engine while maintaining classic interior styling, a Classic instrument cluster has been installed on the steering column.

Overall, this T1 bus is near immaculate, having been fully restored and improved. The driving experience is far better than original and the looks are to die for.
