1987 Porsche 911 Carrera 1 of 3600 Targa – G50 5 Speed Manual – Fuchs Wheels – 84k Actual Miles

Available now is this nice and rare air cooled Porsche 911. Finished in Indischrot red exterior with black interior the car is a classic and sought after color combination. Bodylines show very straight with no major door dings or dents. The paint is driver quality,  front bumper has some rock chips, the hood has some hard water spots and rock chips, decklid has been recently resprayed. Targa top is in good condition on the exterior and even better on the interior, the headliner is not sagging and the roof does not leak. Original torsion bar suspension is still in place and the car sits at original height. Fuchs wheels are straight and true and not bent. Wheels are wrapped in older tires. Our Porsche has spent the last few years in California and passed emissions several times.

Interior is largely original. the multi powered front seats show nicely for the year. Power functions on the seats work as they should. There is a small split at the top left of the driver seat as seen in the photos which could be repaired easily. The sound system has been upgraded with a newer radio and new speakers. Our Porsche still has factory air conditioning and factory heat. In the glovebox is the targa top tool and books/[partial records. Door cards look great and at the inside of the back of the doors the factory vin tags are present. Pop the frunk and a neat and tidy frunk area is displayed. Carpeting is still present, on the hood option code sticker is present, on the front passenger fender is the original paint code sticker. A inflatable spare sits in the front pan as well as tool bag which is included with the car.

Undoubtedly the most significant change applied to the 1987 model year 911 (introduced September 1986) was a new Getrag G50 gearbox with Borg Warner synchromesh. A big improvement on the outgoing 915 unit, the G50 used a different layout; reverse is now to the left and away as opposed to on the right and back. A larger clutch meant the rear semi-trailing arms had to be slightly repositioned which was done by using a new torsion bar tube with a profiled cast-iron centre section to clear the clutch housing. The 3.2 Liter in this car feels very lively and drives tight. The clutch engages easily and goes into every gear nicely. There is a driving video as well available to anyone interested. Prior to this service in 2006 the car had a full clutch job done engine out service which included OEM clutch pressure plate, clutch disc, and release bearing, records we have on file amount to over $10,000.
