There are multiple stages involved in the process of dialing in any machine, with the final stage being long term testing. This final stage of dialing in can truly be felt in the mannerisms of the car and how much more it can feel as if it is truly one machine with the many systems involved working in harmony.
Starting with a Chaste 1993 Efini RX-7 the set up of each system was carefully considered to achieve a high level of performance yet still maintain a level of comfort for street driving. In the powertrain department the factory twins have been replaced with a single Greddy TD07S-25G flowing through an ARC factory location intercooler, 4 inch titanium downpipe and all mated to a streetported 13B resulting in a highly responsive setup meant for midrange power. Sending power to the wheels is a stock 5 speed, a street friendly twin disc clutch, and an upgraded 1.5 way LSD paired with a shorter final drive, all aiding in the midrange response of the set up. With proper footwork the other systems of a vehicle are able to perform optimally, for coilovers a set of TODA Racing Fightex Type Da have been fitted along with CMR autosport antiroll bars, poly front control arm bushings, and rolling on a set of the always welcomed Desmond Regamasters size 17×9 +38 wrapped in new 245/40 Dunlop Direzza ZIIIs. Adding stiffness as well as safety is a Cusco Safety21 7 point bolt in rollcage. The exterior parts added aid in aero and of course the all important cool factor, are a set of Feed afflux carbon fiber side skirts, Re-Amemiya carbon fiber AD skirt type ii front lip spoiler, Re-Amemiya GT ii rear spoiler, Re-Amemiya carbon fiber rear diffuser pro, D-speed vented hood, and a 99’ spec front bumper(the best looking factory bumper). A big positive aspect to this FD is its perfectly functioning A/C and heat. The culmination of these parts is an RX-7 that truly performs while maintaining excellent street car manners.
When it comes to the halo cars of 90s Japan condition can be all over the place, and even more so with tuned vehicles. This RX-7 is a prime example of what you not only want but need which is a highly original condition period tuned machine. The exterior features great condition Chaste white paint with the factory body panels still retaining original paint and the aftermarket ones having paint in the same great condition as the rest of the car. On the inside this car has escaped many of the problems that plague most FDs with the map pocket being uncracked, the center airvent being in great condition and all of the door handles not only function but are uncracked. The rest of the interior is in much the same condition being extremely clean. The Airconditioning functions great and has had the controls relocated to the center betweens the seats to make room for the DEFI gauges. Mechanically this FD is great, pulling strong to redline and shifting into every gear without fuss. The compression on both rotors is excellent and videos of the results are available upon request. Recent service includes fuel system cleaning, spark plugs, oil change with Idemitsu 20w-50, and a full inspection. Rust is an all too common problem with 90s Japanese cars, but this FD has none and as a whole the chassis is in excellent condition showing no signs of damage or rust. All of the suspension components feel tight with no excessive play and is compliant over imperfections in the road.
