In order to produce the 501whp this RB26 makes on 93 octane fuel, a plethora of parts have been used to both strengthen and increase the efficiency of the engine.These parts include: 88mm Tomei pistons bumping the displacement to 2.7L, Tomei I-beam rods, Tomei +1mm oversized racing valves, Tomei valve springs and retainers, GSC Power Division S2 camshafts
The block also been bored over to accommodate the 88mm pistons and has been half concrete filled – which is a long standing practice done to increase block rigidity (this technique is commonplace in the drag racing world as well as a method of strengthening used by Matchless Crowd Racing (MCR) who are one of the OGs of GT-R tuning). The parts used externally to produce this power include: Trust/Greddy T51Z turbines, Trust/Greddy intercooler with piping, Q45 single throttle body conversion, Sard 800cc injectors, equal length front pipe, HKS titanium exhaust, R35 MAF conversion, all being controlled by an APEXi Power FC. Parts included in the full refresh are : ACL race H main bearings, ACL race H rod bearings, ARP 2000 headstud kit, N1 oil pump with PRP gears, new valve guides, Carrillo wrist pin bushings, Tomei valve springs and retainers, Tomei Oversized racing valves, Tomei solid lifters, Tomei MLS 88×1.5mm headgasket, refinished crankshaft, piston rings, and all engine gaskets replaced. In addition to the parts some machine processing was performed including honing the cylinder walls for ring pattern, a main alignment hone, decking the block, resurfacing the head and a competition valve job. Modifications to the drivetrain include a new Spec stage 3 clutch and pressure plate, pushtype conversion, and ATS carbon plate LSD front and rear.
The looks of this R33 GT-R are those of an early 2000s Tokyo auto salon car that you might see running the Wangan after the show. Refinished in Bayside Blue the condition of the exterior is very good showing only minor imperfections indicative of normal use. Exterior modifications include Top Secret front lip, side skirts, and rear spats, N1 bonnet lip, bumper ducts, rear glass with no wiper, a carbon fiber GT wing, clear side markers and foglights, and the holy grail of lighting for an R33 – the Series III Xenon projector headlights. If the looks are not as desired sourcing wheels and factory rear wing with trunk is possible.
As a result of the suspension and chassis tuning this specific R33 feels extremely tight, very nimble, and is quick to respond to driver inputs with a great deal of precision. The parts responsible for this include APEXi N1 evolution coilovers, reinforced rear subframe, solid subframe bushings, solid diff bushings, cusco rear camber arms, and adjustable front tension rods. To aid in deceleration a full GREX special edition chrome big brake kit has been fitted including 6-pot front calipers, 4-pot rear calipers, and two floating rotors at all four corners. The GREX BBK is paired with an Autoselect brake master cylinder in order to properly eliminate ABS. For wheels a set of Volk racing LE37Ks have been fitted in a side of 18×9.5in. The condition of the chassis is very good exhibiting no signs of major corrosion or previous accidents.
The same cleanliness continues into the interior, maintaining all of the interior components, a functioning radio with backup camera and proximity sensors, and fully functioning climate control. A small flaw found in the interior is a grouping of small holes in the dashboard where gauges were previously located. Providing the bolstering to hold both the driver and passenger in place are a pair of limited release GReddy x Bride Euroster II reclinable seats paired with factory seat belts and the ability to fit 4 point harness via a cross bar with mounting points behind the seats. An interesting optional factory part on the interior is – the pair of knee pads found on the driver side door and center console – to allow the driver to better lock themselves in place.
