Now available is this purpose built, time attack 1998 Nissan Silvia K’s. This S14 is a time capsule back to the early 2000’s which is when this vehicle was believed to built as a Juran Racing demo car and subsequently stored in an air conditioned garage for the last 20 years. The conditions in which the car is found in are in large part due to the previous owner’s dedication to preserving this truly special machine. This car sat on tires with a date code from 2002 which were of course replaced for a set of fresh rubber but we were impressed to find these 20+ year old tires to be in such good condition with almost no signs of age, no dry rotting or flat spots.
This particular example retains completely original and mostly immaculate Ultra Red (AJ4) paint. With the exception of the bumpers we can provide paint meter readings, rock chips to be noted on bumper and two small dings on the roof.
Being a Silvia, this car came factory equipped with a SR20, which has since been introduced to a plethora of genuine modifications to maximize performance with no compromise of street-ability. The turbo currently equipped is a Blitz K3-450R with a Blitz external waste gate set to about 1 bar but could run more with higher octane (est. 350hp). Currently tuned to run 93. The powertrain in the car is meant to make reliable power and keep the temperatures well within the proper range. It’s impressive to note that the operating water temperature even when the vehicle is up to temp is considerably lower than most others and hovers around 65-67 degrees celsius (150-155 degrees Fahrenheit) even in the humid, tropical Miami climate. The engine is controlled by an Apex’i Power FC which is a proven choice amongst enthusiasts for the SR20 platform. The engine pulls as it should, comes on boost hard yet pulls through the rev range smoothly and upgraded brakes offer a good bite and help bring the vehicle to a halt. An Ikeya Formula sequential shifter kit ensures direct and fool proof shifting as shift action was converted to a simple up/down pattern while enhancing shifter feel.
In the styling department, the best way to refer to this is the golden age of functional tuner fitment. It sits on classic Blitz wheels, has aggressive aero with a menacing yet functional stance that can be adjusted based on the intended use of the car as the suspension is fully adjustable. Every bolt has been properly torqued and paint marked to ensure it stays that way during operation. The factory fenders and quarter panels have been retained with the required massaging necessary to improve wheel clearance.
Looking underneath the vehicle, you’ll find an excellent undercarriage, straight frame rails, and no cover ups, matching the mileage and exterior condition (please refer to undercarriage photos). Suspension height can be adjusted within a few inches upon request for more practical use. In addition, you’ll find an assortment of modified suspension components and chassis reinforcements that assist in keeping this Silvia planted through corners with minimal body roll.
The interior is in excellent condition, a rarity in the S-Chassis community is a solid dash and this retains one as well as the factory door cards and original headliner. Parts have been removed with the intention of saving weight and/or were inaccessible by the roll cage. The factory passenger seat has been retained but the driver seat has been replaced with a Juran Racing GTR-500 and an accompanying 4-point harness.
All in all, the condition of this car is excellent but not perfect being that it was intended to be used as a track toy. The purpose of this car is not to be a pro level time attack car but to be a functional grip car that will pony up for HPDE/track-day, daily driver, C&C or weekend backroad sessions.
